Project summary
As a result, and among other main factors, Asir Region was awarded the IGCAT Award as “World Region of Gastronomy 2024” as the first region outside Europe to earn this important accolade that recognizes Asir commitment to protect and promote local food and cultural uniqueness.
Executive Summary
RPM was commissioned to develop and execute a “CodificationMethodology” aimed to; define, capture authentic traditional culinary arts and recipes across various regions in Saudi Arabia, and establish a national culinary arts archive of recipes (food and drinks) and cuisines, based on a well-defined criteria and classification, and sourced directly from local communities in urban and rural areas, with participation of a large base of individuals, elderly citizens, civil society groups andNGO’s, and aligned with UNESCO definitions, criteria’s and standards.
RPM have successfully developed the methodology and execution procedure and disciplines, and completed the codification in theNorthern, Western, Southern andCentral regions of the Kingdom, withEastern region currently in process.
